Tisbury Pringle-Ennis and James Ennis at their booth at Pike Place Market.
Tisbury Pringle-Ennis:
I am a glass artist with over 20 years of experience using a torch to create unique, nature-inspired pieces. My background includes formal art training in California, and I've called both the Caribbean and Pacific Northwest home. My work celebrates the natural world through intricate, skillful glass manipulation. I'm constantly experimenting with new techniques and pushing the boundaries of what's possible with glass.
I manipulate glass rods with a propane and oxygen torch, heating them to over 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit, allowing me to shape and sculpt the molten glass into one-of-a-kind pieces that pay homage to the natural beauty of the places I've called home. My techniques require technical expertise, patience, and a deep appreciation for the magic of glass.
James Ennis:
I am inspired by nature and the process of discovery in art. I have been working with glass over 20 years and joined Tisbury Art Glass in 2020 . I am inspired to explore fine metals and glass in a multi media process.
Each piece is handcrafted using rods of glass melted with a torch flame to a temperature of over 2000 degrees.
While the glass is molten hot, we use different techniques to shape the glass. Making sculpture, ornaments and jewelry our work evokes our inspiration and life experience.
